PROCEEDINGS OF THE BEADLE COUNTY COMMISSION
MARCH 5, 2010
The Board of Beadle County Commissioners met on Friday, March 5, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. with members present: Chair Werner, Vice Chair Drake, Marcus and Benson. Absent was Mattke.
The Board of Beadle County Commissioners along with 68 people consisting of 28 Township Supervisors and 6 City Officials met with Governor Mike Rounds.
Kristi Turman, director of the state Office of Emergency Management said that the best thing that can be done is to prepare, and be ready for flooding. She presented a slide show that projects significant flooding could occur in Beadle County.
Tom Moeding, Beadle County Emergency Management Director said the major concerns for Beadle County are North Shore Lake Byron and Memorial Park. Another concern is when the ice starts to melt there could be potential problems with the ice jamming under the bridges. Jerry Batien, Beadle County Highway Superintendent warned that if you notice ice jamming by the bridges, to contact him and not try and solve the problem on there own, it may only damage our already stressed bridges.
The Board of Beadle County Commissioners also visited with Governor Rounds about the Energy Efficiency Grant that we have applied for because of the condition of the boiler system in the courthouse.
The Board adjourned to meet next on Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at 9:00 a.m.
